hivein for Google Workspace

Ask across Gmail, Calendar, Drive, Docs and Sheets, and have the answer written back into the right file.

OAuth 2.0 against the Google Workspace APIs — Gmail, Calendar, Drive, Docs and Sheets — with offline access so the token refreshes in the background.

What it does

Your Google Workspace, as actions the copilot can take.

Triage and send mail

Search the mailbox with Gmail's own query syntax, then reply in thread, forward, or save a draft. Filing is done by adding and removing labels on a message or a whole thread, and Gmail filters and the vacation responder can be read and changed.

Schedule around real availability

Free/busy is read across several calendars, and the next slot of a given length that suits every attendee is found before anything is booked. Once an event exists, attendees can be added or removed, an RSVP sent, or a single occurrence of a recurring series cancelled.

Find files and see who can open them

Drive search uses its own query syntax over names and content, and a native Doc or Sheet can be exported to another format such as PDF. Access is explicit: list the permissions on a file, share it, change someone's role, or revoke it.

Draft documents that are already formatted

A new Doc is filled with headings, paragraphs, bulleted and numbered lists, page breaks and tables populated with a shaded header row. A template is finished with a batched find-and-replace that swaps every placeholder in one request.

Build and format spreadsheets

Values are read from an A1 range or several ranges at once, rows appended to the bottom of a table, and multiple ranges written in a single call. The sheet is then sorted, frozen at the header, given filter dropdowns or banding, and a chart drawn from a block of cells.

Starting guidelines

Workspace Assistant arrives with these.

Written in plain language, not configuration — change a sentence and the behaviour changes with it.

Outbound waits for a yes

Sends, shares and invites are shown as drafts first and go out only once you confirm.

No double-booking

The calendar window is read before anything is booked, and alternatives are proposed instead of a clash.

Grounded summaries

Every summary names the exact messages and files it came from.

What it knows

It reads your Google Workspace data model, not a generic one.

The schema is read first, so a question that spans two of these is one question, not two lookups.

Ask it on day one
  • “Which emails from last week are still unanswered and what is each one waiting on”

  • “Find a 45 minute slot next Tuesday that works for me, Priya and the finance team”

  • “Who outside the company can still open the pricing folder in Drive”

  • “Pull the Q3 numbers out of the revenue sheet and write me a one page summary doc”

Guardrails

Writes to Google Workspace wait for you.

The same three guardrails hold on every template. They are attached to the action itself, so they hold on every path. Watch the replay →

  1. 01

    The plan is held

A plan that writes to a real system stops before it starts. You see the goal, the risk and every step, then confirm or reject.

  2. 02

    Each write asks first

A tool marked ask-first shows the exact call with its values. Confirm it, edit the values, or reject it. Nothing runs until you decide.

  3. 03

    A rejection is an instruction

Pick a reason and add a line. The copilot re-plans with what you told it instead of guessing.

FAQ

Google Workspace questions.

Does a Workspace admin have to install this?

Each person connects their own account through Google's OAuth consent screen, which lists exactly the scopes being granted. Admins who prefer central control can approve the app for the domain instead, but it is not required for one person to connect.

Can it read a PDF stored in Drive, not just native Google files?

Drive search and metadata cover every file in the drive, whatever its type, so a PDF is found, described and shared like anything else. Reading the contents is narrower: text uploads such as txt, markdown, csv and json are read directly, and native Docs, Sheets and Slides are exported to plain text or PDF first. A binary upload — a PDF, a .docx, an image — is located rather than read, and hivein says so instead of guessing at what is inside it.

What happens to my labels and filters?

Labels are first-class: they can be listed, created, renamed, and applied to one message, a whole thread, or many messages in a single batch. Existing Gmail filters are visible too, so an auto-routing rule can be added or removed rather than the triage being repeated by hand.
